A show I won’t soon forget..
In short, the band showed up definitely. However, the crowd didn’t. Oddly low ticket sales to mediocre applause & energy to many songs was embarrassing at times to be a Vancouverite. The true DMB heads showed up regardless and serenaded where they were supposed to. And then, during the break before the encore, a member of Dave’s security approached me and gave me a couple of items. ‘Dave asked me to give this to you. It’s from his shirt pocket.’ It was a setlist and his guitar pick. I thanked him, told the original host what had happened and thanked her with a bear hug. Dave even called us out saying ‘I know you’re there Vancouver, I can see you.’ Yeah, weak. Songs with loud crowd feedback were longer, with more punch. Watching them up close gave me a new appreciation as to just how well they mesh and feed off of each other. Overall it was a show that I won’t soon forget. It was a brilliant show and my 5th DMB concert. So yes, it reminded me that amidst a lot of turmoil, there are a ton of great people who are eager to do good when given the chance. I will pay this forward somehow. With a good mix of favourites and some deep cuts, the band put on an amazing show (well over 2 hours). I’d recommend you do the same.
